Pee, Poop & DOUBLE ER Visits!

This week has been rough. We’ve been potty training the new puppy, something I never thought I’d do. I never wanted a dog and I NEVER would have allowed one in my home, but here we are. I don’t get any sleep at night and I have to do the dogs laundry every day. Yes, our dog has laundry. We have a pillow and blanket in the kennel for her to sleep on and while she’s been doing good, she has very small accidents every day. I think it is because she is only nine or ten weeks old and she can not hold her bladder the entire eight or nine hours that I am gone in a day.

In addition to the dog drama, I went to the ER on Tuesday. I was feeling good that morning then I had a client meeting with a Nonprofit Organization. As soon as I left that meeting I began feeling very sick. I began to sweat, feel nauseous and I felt as if I might faint. I thought I needed to eat and I did. I went out to lunch with my Aunt Tammy and my husbands friend, Jeremy. We ate at McCorkles and I ate good. I had a tenderloin and a Dr. Pepper. After that I went back to work. That’s when things got worse. I, very quickly, turned pale and felt like I might faint. I felt an intense tingling in my fingers and toes and I had a sharp pain in my side. My boss encouraged me to go to the ER and my step cousin /  co-worker, Melissa, drove me to the Cameron ER and sat with me until my mother-in-law, Renee, could get there to be with me.

The ER nurse took a urine sample, did blood work and all the basics. The Doctor came back later and told me that my potassium was low, it was at a 2.5. They gave me a potassium pill, sent me home and told me to eat bananas. Renee drove me back home, took Miley out potty, then she tucked me in on the couch (lol) and went to get me some bananas and pick up Matthew for me. She is such a life saver. I don’t know what I’d do without her.

Ok, I said DOUBLE ER right? Ya, so the craziest thing, my Mom was in the ER Tuesday too, right about the same time as me, and….for THE EXACT same thing! I received a call from Nan (my mom’s mom), that my mom was in the Bethany ER and the hospital was keeping her over night because her potassium was low. That’s when I told her that I just left the ER a little while ago. How crazy is that? My Mom’s potassium was at a 3.2 and they admitted her and pumped her full of potassium.

Crazy huh? I guess my Mom and I have both been so busy with school, work and everything that we forgot to take care of ourselves. I think it’s time to slow down a little and focus on health for a while. You know what they say….An apple…scratch that…A banana a day keeps the Doctor away!

God Bless you all with good health,
Love Kendra
