Matthew LOVES coon hunting. We took a Saturday as a family and went out into the woods and did what we love to do; hike, hunt & enjoy the outdoors.

Days like today remind me of why God commanded us to take a Sabbath rest. The rest and recreation brings so much joy and peace and the way life has been lately, we needed it!

So here’s my encouragement to you & reminder to me: take a REST and do what re-energizes you.

This year for Christmas we took a road trip! Christmas morning we woke up and headed for Oklahoma and stopped in Chickasha, Oklahoma to see their big Christmas light display (not as good as Yukon’s), we stayed one night in a hotel there and then headed to our airbnb in Gun Barrel City, Texas. We got into all kinds of adventures, a Buc-ee’s white elephant gift exchange, a flea market, jazzy chair races, saw some gators, met the owner of Meat Church

This year we were so BUSY during deer season, I did get to hunt with my dad but my main focus was taking a sweet girl from our church deer hunting. She has been telling me all year she wanted to go so we took her out to shoot a rifle and our first night out hunting she shot and killed her first deer! My heart is exploding for her, she had so much fun and it immediately brought back the rush of emotions and adrenaline that comes with that first successful hunt. We went out, sat on the edge of a field in the evening and we watched the deer run around the field and when she saw an opportunity to take a doe, she pulled the trigger. The deer ran off into the timber and we waited a little bit until we decided to look for blood. We found blood and were successfully able to track the deer and find it!
